Bought 10 Naruto Manga books from them. Shipping was about 1 month and came at different times.
Price of the books was very good. At the time they had 10% off all books hence why I bought more.
However, 2 of the books were damaged. I contacted them via email and they were quick to respond and provide me with a refund for the 2 books and gave me 10% off my next purchase.
I bought a Latin Textbook- 501 Latin Verbs from AbeBooks never having used this before. Wow! They shipped my product quickly and cheaply and I got it for a great price. Would definitely shop from here again
As a final year uni student, I rarely bought textbooks cos I know it will be rarely used.. however, there's one subject that will allow me to open the textbook during the exam.
That's why I decided to buy this textbook.
When I tried to look for it in University bookshop, it was really really expensive $120+, but I know the trick to buy cheap textbook and that is to look it up in the internet and buy it from Asia.
so i went to AbeBooks and looked my book up and when I found it, it's only $50!!! (including the shipping and my credit card currency exchange fee).
The book I bought, was printed in Singapore, came from Malaysia. Though the one in uni bookstore is hard cover, the one I bought is soft cover, but overall it's awesome.
I ordered a book from AbeBooks as they were the cheapest place that I could find for that particular title.
Shipping took a while, the book arrived more than 3 weeks after I placed the order, which is understandable considering the distance it traveled. The book was well packed and the low price made the wait worthwhile.
I wouldn't order from AbeBooks if I was after something in a hurry, but otherwise, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase books from them in future.
I heard that one of my favourite book series 'The Mortal Instruments' was being adapted into a movie in 2013. I thought is would be nice to have a first edition, first print book from the series. I also thought that maybe one day it would be a collectable item.
I found a copy of the book 'City of Bones' in first addition, first print at an online store named Abebooks. I found the website easy to use, they had a great description of the book (allowing me to work out if it was a real first edition) and it was well priced at just over $100. Shipping from the US added to the price but it was reasonable at about $26 USD. Payment was via credit card and I received a detailed receipt through email. Overall service was great and I received the item quickly in the post. The book was well wrapped in plastic and in great condition. Would recommend this store.
ABE Books is the most wonderful website. I often find my Uni books on here for half or one third of what they would cost in a second hand book shop or from Uni books.
The books are usually from the UK, but they come so quick that if you plan ahead, you can get the book you need in time.
Usually, the book sellers on the website are meticulous and careful when describing their stock, and in packing and sending the books. So the quality is generally better than you expect.
I definitely recommend this store, especially if you are studying English subjects at uni.
I've recently enrolled in a new course at uni which has six books on the reading list plus a short story!! This is a huge amount of books to source at once, but I managed to find them all at ABE books, and it cost me under $65.
If you don't mind books in 'average' quality, you can find the books you need for between $3-10 apiece, and this is especially true of common titles, such as the gothic titles I needed (inc. the incredibly common Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and also Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde).
One note, as a lot of books come from the UK, it does take time for them to arrive. If you need something for a certain date it is important to order ahead of time.
