Supporting local wine makers but hopeless shipping!
Naked Wines Australia is a fantastic concept in supporting local wine makers. The idea is that you become a member by contributing $40 each month which invests into local wine makers, the $40 also goes towards whatever wines you wish to buy that month and you get a free bottle per month too. Great if you drink a lot of wine or hold a lot of parties, not so worth it if you're not a huge drinker.
I was given a $50 voucher from Book Depository to be used on any crates of wine worth $99 or more. I ordered a crate of the best sellers (12 bottles) thinking I could bring a bottle to a friend's birthday, paying only $50. They claimed guaranteed overnight shipping, and if for whatever reason there is a delay that I would be contacted. It took 5 working days for them to deliver the wine, not one contact from Naked Wines, and by that time my friend's birthday had come and gone.
I contacted Naked Wines and they couldn't give me a straight answer as to where my wines were. It took me 3 times hassling them by phone and email for them to finally tell me that they have had higher than usual orders and shipping was backed up. Highly disappointed with the shipping service. The courier they used even asked if I could pick it up myself as they were too snowed under, I refused. I've since cancelled my account with them.
The wine itself is ok. We've only tried one bottle, which was nice but needed a bit of ageing.
