These guys are terrible - avoid like the plague. My experience was just like others reporting on here. I should have listened to the reviews and bought elsewhere. Here's my experience. I ordered 5 items on the night of 19th January (handlebar, adjustable stem, stem adaptor, brake hanger and cable ends). The prices were good and I was taking advantage of a $5 flat rate shipping promotion. I also paid an extra $2.50 for package tracking and receipted delivery. My credit card was charged within minutes of the order being placed.
The next morning I received an email saying that my order was being shipped out today and that I should email Velogear for the tracking number. All good so far.
I send an email to Velogear on the Tuesday night requesting my tracking number. No response. Then again on the Thursday night. Still no response. A third email on the Friday night asking if anybody is there. Finally I get a response on Saturday morning that my "tracking number is not ready as we are still waiting on parts". So after emailing me that my order would ship on Tuesday, I find that my order hasn't shipped at all - no apology from Velogear and no indication of when the parts would ship. Now I'm starting to get annoyed and I respond to them letting them know of my dissatisfaction. At this stage I get an apology and a promise to follow up on Tuesday (after Australia Day).
On Tuesday I get an email saying that the parts are "expected in this afternoon and your order will ship out today". Sounds promising.
On Wednesday afternoon I send through an email asking for my tracking number. Then on Thursday morning comes the surprise response which I shall quote here: "We are not having much luck with your order unfortunately. I called our supplier yesterday as the item still didn't arrive and they contacted the courier and apparently the package got damaged and was never received by us but was supposedly returned to the sender, which they never received. They are looking into it for us as we speak."
At least at this stage they have shipped my remaining goods and provided a tracking number. However, as of 1st Feb, the goods have not arrived and the tracking number is giving me a "no events currently found".
By this stage, I've had enough. I advise Velogear on 30th Jan to cancel the remaining item and refund me the amount for this part. I now await confirmation from them and a refund. I suspect this won't be the end of this saga, but you get the story.
In the meantime, I've ordered the missing part from an online store in the UK and it is due to arrive in the next couple of days (from the other side of the world, mind you).
Please heed the advice of others here and avoid Velogear at all costs. I will not be buying from them again and I won't be recommending them to anybody. They have no idea how to run an online business.
Had an unfortunate event last week riding to work in the morning and suddenly got punctured tire in middle of no where. Tried my spare tube but defected. The spare tube was already punctured before and I patched it maybe that's why.
Walked 40 minutes to nearest bike shop in Kew and it was out of business. So ended up spending whole morning in the cold until back up arrive.
One lesson learnt here, do not use patched bike tube as spare! And bring more than one spare tube if you don't want to get stuck.
Anyway before I continue yap on basically I desperately need to get some spare tube before I dare to ride out again.
Searched on BikeExchange but the cheapest tube was about 8 bucks + shipping. So more research on Google and found Velogear. They just had promotion free shipping when spend over 10 bucks which you can easily achieve.
I bought 3 CTS 700 23c tubes for $15.9 with free shipping. Ordered on 8th Aug Thu, received email notification that item has been shipped on next day morning, and received item on 19th Aug Monday. That's quick for free shipping.
The tubes are good. Rode to work today without any issues.
I ordered a part, and it arrived super quickly. It turned out I'd ordered the wrong one, but they really helped me out, ensuring it was correct, and replacing it for free, even though it was definitely my fault.
