awful, awful app. comparably slow shipping time with subpar communication
decided to give the new dick smith android app a go and ordered a 1.5TB Toshiba Portable Hard Drive, that was an advertised special in their catalogue. delivery was free
firstly, the experience with the app was INCREDIBLY painful. finding the portable hard drive was an effort (it wasnt in the logical category - the 500Gb was there, but not the 1.5TB). a search finally revealed it. in between all this, the app kept crashing or unexpectedly logging out. no idea why. adding the item to the cart also resulted in app crashes (and it doesnt save your item in the cart, so you have to restart the process over again)
i decided to try and fill out my details first and then try to make the purchase. i previously had an account with dick smith, but the app wouldnt recognise my login details. somehow resetting my password (from a desktop browser) made it work.
mind you, the whole time, the app is still crashing
cutting it short, i finally (after around 2 hours and 25+ attempts) managed to place my order and make a payment. confirmation of my order arrived the next day (i actually thought it had failed as im used to receiving confirmation emails within 5-10 minutes)
finally 6 days later (i was just about to call dick smith and query my order status as there was no communication for such a long time), i received an email stating the my item had been shipped via AAE with a tracking number and link (the link went to a blank page...)
2 days after that, my item arrived.
overall, im happy i (finally) got my item.
BUT avoid the app like the plague! its so badly designed that only my sheer stubbornness got my order through. i also felt that delivery and communication of order details were quite lacking. im surprised it took 6 days to have the item ready to be shipped, especially compared to other experiences ive had with other retailers
next time, im more likely to walk into a store and buy the item or order through their regular website - its a lot less painful. that app REALLY needs ALOT of work done to it

faulty item, replaced without issues. good service overall
ordered a mobile phone online to be picked up in store. as stock was low, no shipping/delivery was available
i received a text notification 2 days later, letting me know that my item was ready for pickup at my selected store
out of the box, the phone had issues with the sim tray (wouldnt eject the sim properly and got stuck). the original store i had purchased the phone from had sold out, so i had to ring another dick smith for stock and head there to have the item replaced. slightly inconvenient, but things like this happen
the phone was swapped over without any issues, and the new one worked fine. hopefully it holds out for the next couple of years
so overall, good service, just inconvenient having to drive around for faults with the item, but its no fault of Dick Smith

super duper quick delivery
bought a 4TB seagate desktop hard drive
paid for item on a thursday night, with free delivery
received order confirmation and order shipped emails
item arrived the next day, but was delivered to my local post office as i wasnt home to receive it - cant fault delivery times at all!
i didnt receive an invoice (for warranty purposes) so i called up their online sales team who advised me they would email me a copy and should arrive within 48 hours (hopefully it does!)
price was cheaper than competitors at the time of purchase. free delivery was a bonus. delivery time was great. service so far has also been of high standard. if they keep this up, i will definitely buy from them again

ordered a 3 pack Uniden cordless telephone set
managed to snag it for the price of the 2 pack (in the same model) sold at other retailers, so the price was definitely good
delivery was nice and quick, with an email notifying me that my order had been shipped the next day and the item actually arriving the day after that. 3 days in total for the placement of the order to it being in my hands
definitely pleased with both the price and the delivery. and so far, the phone has also been great
will definitely buy from DSE again, especially if they keep up the great prices and service!

Bad Product
I ordered a GPS from the website to my friend in WA. The order arrived in a week but the GPS charger doesn't work. At first we thought it was because of the old car so we left it unused for 2 months. Then I found an old phone charger to try and found the GPS was working normally so we concluded the charger was broken. We complained Dick Smiths and they advised us to ask the manufacturer first for faster service. We found it troublesome so we ordered a charger from ebay. The GPS worked for a few days with the new charger but then I couldn't turn it on anymore. Anyway, it was a single incident, other orders were all fine to me.

first of all the price is soo cheap...the delivery was quick and free as well moreover they keep you updated in every thing they've done (e.g shipping, delivery). the packaging was really good as well..they gave you a big air bag so your product can't be damaged

I purchased a couple of games for my Kinect during a clearance sale from Dick Smith. Buying them online ensured that I was able to get them at the sale price.
