I decided to join the Kathmandu Summit Club seeing as Kathmandu have some nice items from time to time.
The club is usually $10 to join, however purchased it during a promotional period. But for $10 you're essentially purchasing a card for discounts.
The 20% off Kathmandu products that this card gives you essentially brings their gear down to a reasonable priceā¦
What got me about this order was the shipping. From a previous Kathmandu experience I knew there shipping method for click and collect was pretty stupid and painfully long, however this was terrible.
1 month. That's how long it took Kathmandu to ship the $10 card to me in an envelope and it's for this reason that I'd say if you want something from Kathmandu to be prepared to wait or to just go in store.
Jumping on Kathmandu's 3 for 1 sale I decided to grab some towels for general use and gym.
The prices for the sale were good, but the shipping is where Kathmandu fails.
To pickup at a store - free To get it shipped to your house - average pricing
I decided to pick it up at a store since I work near one, however they actually ship the items to the store so it takes around 7 days to get all the way there, then you have to wait another day after they arrive to pick them up, then you get checked for ID and charged another 20c if you want a bag. You also get send AusPost tracking info to your email with no indication for what you've actually bought.
Pretty terrible way of doing things. Each package I saw at the store they had there for pickup was send individually. I don't see why they couldn't just ship it to your house for free, but whatever.
Also, their prices are expensive if you don't have a Summit Club card, which is $10 (sometimes free).
Was planning for my backpacking trip so I bought a bag online. Along with purchasing the membership you actually get a significant discount. The items arrived in a week or so. Fairly happy with their service. However, generally I find their products quite expensive and only worthwhile during a sale.
Free in store pickup. shipping a little slow. Store experience varies
Ordered a pair of long johns to wear to combat the cold. Free pickup was available in store, with payment via Paypal being an accepted option.
After my payment was made, i received a tax invoice the same day. Four days later, my item was marked as being shipped to my chosen store to be ready to be picked up another four days later. i consider this a little slow, and if i was in a rush, i probably wouldnt buy online, but some promotions are online only and stock is not always available in store.
Picking the items up required going to the store with the order number and some ID, though it seems the process isnt quite efficient yet (this could be store based). the staff spent a good few minutes trying to locate my order, first stating that my order hadnt arrived, and after showing them the email, looked in several locations before finally finding it.
Overall, not the best experience, but not terrible either. I will continue to buy from Kathmandu so long as the prices and products meet my requirements.
the long johns do an OK job, but i felt that Uniqlo Extra Warm long johns were far better and i would be happier paying a higher price for the added warmth. But if i had never bought them, i would never had known or been able to compare. Now i do
Kathmandu have an easy to navigate site. I tend to only buy during their big sales and buy online to avoid the store crowds. Items got to me within the expected time period, exactly what I ordered and the quality I expect. I'm a repeat customer and will continue to be! :)
Pricing can be a little high, but delivery times are good
Ordered a quick dry towel to be picked up at my local store.
Being a Kathmandu member, I received free shipping (I believe this was a promotional offer).
It seems my order was shipped from a warehouse to my chosen store and I received an email notifying me that my order was ready for pickup, 4 days after my order was placed.
Service and price seemed quite good. As for the towel, doesn't feel the nicest, but I guess being quick dry, you don't expect indulgence.
Happy to buy select items from Kathmandu as I typically find their pricing isn't always the greatest, but so far the service and delivery times have been good.
I purchased a jacket, cap, bandana and bag from Kathmandu and had no issues whatsoever. The website was easy to navigate, shipping was reasonable and the products are light, durable and of great quality. The prices can be relatively expensive, but there are great bargains to be had when there's a Kathmandu sale!
