I've ordered about 10 books and DVDs from them over the last few months. All have arrived in reasonable time. It's great to know my money is going to an oz store rather than an overseas one
I ordered a book 3 weeks ago that was to be delivered in 3 business days. Three weeks later I have not received the book, nor had any contact from Bookworld. I log into my account to see what is going on & the status reads 'yet to be dispatched'. Far from happy I try to make contact. There is no possible way to contact this business. Yet another file for Paypal.
Bookworld is definitely one to stay away from. I have written several emails in order to get a refund from an order that would not submit properly. They asked me to submit my order again. So glad I didn't I would be out of pocket for double the amount. Funny how it would not submit the order but would submit the amount of money which has been deducted from my bank account. It was deducted IMMEDIATELY. There is no way to make phone contact. I would definitely NOT shop with them EVER. They don't even bother to acknowledge emails. Just take your money and run. I would give them a rating of -0.
Purchased a book from this website last week. I searched the internet and they had the cheapest price. I was suprised to come home three days and find the book there. Book came in perfect condition and even had a 20% off voucher included for next purchase. Will buy again
I Purchased a book on 24/06/2014 paid by CC and was charged the same day, The website indicated that it had the item in stock and would be shipped in 7 to 10 days, to my surprise after a month (literally 30 days) nothing, no sign of the book or any notifications, when i emailed them in 25 of july after 4 days they responded that they had a system upgrade and i wasn't informed of the delay in delivery of my book and i should receive my book in 2 to 3 days, its now 8/08/2014 and guess what NO BOOK has arrived. STAY AWAY from BOOKWORLD. don't risk it.
Bookworld are terrible, They indicate online that they have a product in stock and then once paid tell you it is no longer in stock and just run the gauntlet on delay after delay. Then you send them filthy emails telling of your terrible service and lo and behold it suddenly becomes ready to ship. however it will take longer than the 7 to 10 days that is guaranteed, and forget about tracking it, the whole website is a lie.
After this last time I have had enough and would never use them again or advise anyone else to use them. They are nothing but a scam.
Sorry to hear of your terrible experience but they are not a scam as I have received all my orders from them.
Maybe just stick to books that have the image 'fast, free 2-3 day delivery' on them.
This is my top Australian bookstore to visit (online) and recently they had a 20% sale so I could not resist. I bought a Popular Penguin and it arrived this morning just 3 business days later. Shipping is free.
It does arrive in a large cardboard satchel for protection, though I think it's a bit of a waste of cardboard - into the recycling bin that goes.
Included was a $19.99 Quickflix gift card which I probably won't use.
Overall, my experience with Bookworld has always been positive, their site is nicely set out and easy to browse. I would recommend them! (especially the books that can be shipped in 1-2 days).
I ordered a calendar for a Christmas present on 25 Nov. It said it was in stock and would ship in around a week. Today (17 Dec) I thought I should follow up because I had heard nothing since my order confirmation. Surprise, surprise! They write back saying the calendar 'has gone out of print and we will be unable to supply your order.' They are refunding my payment. Two things: What would have happened if I hadn't followed up with them? Would they have just kept my money? Why wasn't I informed that the order couldn't be filled sometime within the three weeks from when I ordered until when I followed up. Were they just planning on keeping my money and not sending the product. I don't think they can be trusted and I will never use them again.
I'm having the same problem now ordered a book said it was in stock and still does ! My book is on order and estimated deliver is 3 weeks!!
Sorry to hear that Brad. As I said, I won't use them again. They even sent me a voucher (I think it was for $10), but I still refuse to use them. $10 didn't make up for the inconvenience and the additional expense I had to wear to have a calendar delivered from Dymocks by express post to arrive in time for Christmas :-(
