I bought the book 'The world is flat', it arrived after 9 business days. Shipping is heavily discounted, it costs a few dollars. From what i could tell the book had never been read, even though it was claimed to be pre-owned. However, I love the concept of pre-loved books. The checkout process is very simple. Would shop here again!
I ordered 3 secondhand books: Sula by Toni Morrison The Passion by Jeanette Winterson The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
The products: Two of the products were in good condition, however The God of Small Things was in terrible condition with extensive pen markings on the pages and inside the cover.
The website: It had a nice, simple layout and there were a variety of payment options. The condition of each product was described simply as "Good" or "Very Good" which was very vague and not accurate at all.
The shipping: Shipping was free, however it took 11 days to arrive which is a considerable amount of time for a domestic shipment. The package was left outside in the rain by the courier. Luckily, it was wrapped well and the contents remained dry.
The price: Each book cost $9.99. For secondhand books, they're quite pricey and there are cheaper new and secondhand options available online.
Returning: I requested a refund for The God of Small Things. It took a lot of emails to clarify the situation and get a refund. In addition to refunding my money they sent me another copy of the book.
These guys are cheap and reliable, and their books are always high quality.
I have found that World of Books don't always display their covers, and that can be a bit frustrating, as you have to buy the books blind. However, the books are always fabulous, cheaper than some other webstores, well packaged, and reasonably quick to deliver.
This is one of many book stores I love, as I am a bit of a collector, but if you are looking for a title, make sure you check out World of Books and do a price comparison, as they are competitive and trustworthy!
