Before I bought Diablo III from Dick Smith, I placed an order from JBHifi. But JBHifi didn't deliver it after 4 weeks. I received it from Dick Smith first even though I placed order there 2 weeks later.

On the 06/11/2012 i ordered 2 'UNIDEN 72XLT VHF/UHF Scanners' for $20 each (clearance),when i arrived one of the scanners was a returned unit which wasn't declared on the site,she take off another $5 which was okay i guess.
There was no shipping charge as it was a Click & Collect reservation.

ordered a mobile phone online to be picked up in store. as stock was low, no shipping/delivery was available
i received a text notification 2 days later, letting me know that my item was ready for pickup at my selected store
out of the box, the phone had issues with the sim tray (wouldnt eject the sim properly and got stuck). the original store i had purchased the phone from had sold out, so i had to ring another dick smith for stock and head there to have the item replaced. slightly inconvenient, but things like this happen
the phone was swapped over without any issues, and the new one worked fine. hopefully it holds out for the next couple of years
so overall, good service, just inconvenient having to drive around for faults with the item, but its no fault of Dick Smith

Ordered a hard drive case for storing my portable HDD and chose to pick it up at my local store (free)
i was notified by email 4 days later that my item was available for pick up
a simple and pain-free pickup this time around
dick smith are constantly having online sales and promotions across their range of items (often on their accessories), so if you are not in a rush, it worth keeping an eye out for items of interest
if service was this efficient across all their range of stores, it would be easy to recommend repeat purchases from DSE

Bad Product
I ordered a GPS from the website to my friend in WA. The order arrived in a week but the GPS charger doesn't work. At first we thought it was because of the old car so we left it unused for 2 months. Then I found an old phone charger to try and found the GPS was working normally so we concluded the charger was broken. We complained Dick Smiths and they advised us to ask the manufacturer first for faster service. We found it troublesome so we ordered a charger from ebay. The GPS worked for a few days with the new charger but then I couldn't turn it on anymore. Anyway, it was a single incident, other orders were all fine to me.

Great Product, Cheap Price, Stupid Delivery!
I ordered an $10 amaysim Voucher from Dick Smith, on special for $7.92. It was a free shipping item but I thought because I only needed the code they would digitally send it to me. Sure enough a few days later a 5kg satchel came from Startrak with my voucher in it! Thats right, one A4 sheet of paper with a voucher on it put into a 5kg satchel. I would buy again, but I think they are just wasting resources for themselves and the customers time.

My order was confirmed and available for pick up on the same day, which was great (though the time taken does very between store to store).
Unfortunately, when i picked up the bag, i found the laptop bag wasn't suitable, so a refund was required.
As i had paid via Paypal, i was told there was a possible wait of up to 2 weeks for the refund to be processed.
I think the actual time to receive the refund wasn't as long as stated, but they give a longer time frame to manage expectations.
Overall, the whole buy and refund process wasn't painful, and the general service was acceptable.
I will continue to buy from Dick Smith
