Questionable Business Practices, Disgusting Service
Ordered 2 items, however 1 item received was falsely advertised ("pack of 9" when it was only 1 item). Returned both items, received confirmation, advised refund would be in my account "within a few days".
3 weeks later and NO REFUND. Have emailled twice, and NO RESPONSE.
At the checkout, the item I ordered was advertised at one price. I filled out the necessary details in under one minute, clicked confirm, and then on the receipt screen... I was charged a higher price.
I contacted customer support and said, "I think this is unfair as I didn't agree to or see the price change... nor could I have in the short amount of time I spent typing in my details." Fishpond responded with, "A price cannot be guaranteed until the order has been placed."
I responded with, "Surely it’s a legal requirement to inform a customer of how much is about to be charged to their credit card. You can't just spring a new price onto the customer at the receipt screen. You don't see a problem with that?"
Fishpond responded with, "The price is advertised on checkout. If you haven't completed the order it can be updated in the mean time."
Bad customer service, bad system.
Second experience:
I ordered a copy of Halo: Reach, an Xbox 360 video game. Fishpond only sell games brand new. I purchased a new copy, dispatched from the UK. After 3 weeks, the game arrived and it was second-hand... unsealed, scratches on the disc, warped booklet. I contacted Fishpond and they sent me another 3 weeks later. It was still unsealed but in better condition. I left it there.
I purchased a cookbook: Iron Chef Chen's Knockout Chinese at a very good price here. Other places are a lot more expensive and that's not including shipping prices. Here, the shipping is not only free, the prices are a lot lower. Also, the shipping was fast, prompt and sometimes comes before the indicated estimated arrival date. I would definitely continue shopping here.
I accidentally stumbled across this website whilst searching for Peppa Pig and Octonauts books. I purchased 9 books for around half the price as you would find in ABC stores and shipping was free! Supplier was in the UK too. Items were dispatched in groups which was a bit strange...received 2 to 3 items separately over 1 week. packaged ok - in cardboard. lucky books were not damaged. could have been packaged better though. but all in all, my items arrived safely in perfect condition. This website sells all types of things. Good idea to sign up for emails. will buy from again if any good deals pop up.
I ordered "Every Grain of Rice", a cookbook by Fuchsia Dunlop on 23 April 2013. I received an immediate order confirmation, and on 24 April, an order update stating that a third party, "Books Fiction" had been notified to ship the item. It was estimated that delivery take between 7-10 days, and book was received on 2 May 2013. Item was well packaged and came with all the required invoicing.
Very happy with my first Fish Pond experience. I may not need to order from Book Depository any more!

This last order was for two amazing books coming in from the USA. After making the order I received an email saying one of the books was out of stock, but I kept the order for the other book anyway.
I can't remember how long shipping took, but I think it was the standard amount of time.
Don't hesitate to buy from this superstore. It's so much easier than having to go from store to store searching for an item. Who has time for that? :)
