I bought a few small kitchen gadgets from House when they had a post Christmas sale on.
The website was really easy to navigate, the items were reasonably priced and the sale included free postage.
The parcel arrived in a reasonable time frame and was well packed, very well packed. The box was very large for 3 small items, was covered in "fragile" tape and full of packing peanuts. I thought the packaging was a bit wasteful, considering that the items were quite sturdy, however I do think it is better to overpack than underpack.
Overall, I am really happy with my purchase. It was much better than fighting the crowds in the shopping centres. I would happily buy from their online store again.
I ordered online because American Express had a cashback offer if $90 or more was spent on the House online site only.
Good points: Shipping is free if you spend over $89. Items arrived after 6-7 days. All items were well protected in bubble wrap then placed in a large box. You get sent a message when your order is dispatched and also get a message on the day the item is being delivered to your home and also a message to say the item has been delivered.
Bad points: I made several separate orders and some items had damage or defects in them. 1. Alex Liddy Cake Stand and Dome had air bubbles in them, later found out they were manufacturing defects when I took it into store to exchange it and found that the others all had air bubbles in them to different degrees. 2. Marie Claire Condiment Set: porcelain on the inner lid of one container was chipped, not noticeable but it is a weak thin and sharp spot and might chip off further. 3. Maxwell Williams multi shaker 100ml: has a stainless steel outer shell but still had a chip in the glass jar. Did not bother to contact customer service for 2. and 3.
Customer service: Emailed and then rang customer service when there was no response (regarding 1. Cake Stand), was told they were short staffed and busy because of sales. Waited 1 wk then emailed again and no response.
Got a very quick response at their Facebook website and the area manager was quick to repond as well. As a result of these quick responses I'm giving service a 4 stars otherwise it would've been 1 star.
If possible, I would recommend going into the store to buy the goods so that you can examine the products yourself.
If they had a great online only deal I would still shop online but with hesitation.
