Counter-intuitive shopping cart made things difficult
I placed an online order for some Unicef Inspired Gifts in early December with the intention of giving the cards to my workmates rather than physical gifts, as I had done the previous year.
I chose Unicef as they had a choice of card that relates to my field of employment, whereas other charities that offer similar gift cards do not have cards that tie in so nicely.
I found the shopping cart very difficult to navigate as I struggled to work out how to order a physical card, rather than an e-card or a PDF to print out. I fiddled around with the website for a little while trying to work it out and only persisted as I had been able to successfully order physical cards the year before, or I may have given up.
I placed my order, unsure how to know if I had ordered physical cards, but recalling the same feeling of unease the year before, hoped for the best.
Sadly, my hopes were misguided as I had got it wrong and had not ordered physical cards at all. An e-mail to Unicef in early January sorted the problem out and they sent the cards out, though a little late for Christmas.
The cards are great and the website is great and looking back at the shopping cart now, I can see where I made my mistake, however I do wonder if I, as a very regular internet shopper am not able to work their shopping cart out, how others go navigating it and I suspect it could do with some work to make it a little more user friendly.
I will order from Unicef again, and I can't fault their customer service, but their shopping cart design really let me down.
