Read the fine print
I have always enjoyed shopping at Peters. Great products at a great price in a world full on chinese rubbish that doesn't last until sunset.
So I had no reservations in buying a present for my daughter online on Monday for a Thursday birthday. In context, delivery is 10km from the store. On Thursday I emailed to ask where it was and got an automated email - "We'll be back to you within 48 hours". Hmmm not so useful on the actual birthday. So I called the store. They said it was dispatched. When I put in the connote number into Austpost, it clearly stated the parcel was manifested but not collected. So figuring collection was now the best option I asked if it were there for me to collect. To which I was told, no it's gone. When I said it should show on Auspost as being collected then, I was told I was wrong. Hmmmm.
I was told they allow 2-5 days for HANDLING. Postage time on top of that. When I asked where that was, I was told to read the fine print. When I said "Well I guess that's my lesson learned" the staff member said "Yes" and asked if there was anything else she could do. Hmmmm.
I buy a lot online. This rates poorly vs other online retailers. The other day I bought 10 Toshiba laptops online for the business. They guy called me within an hour to thank me for the business, apologies for only having 6 in stock and upgraded the order for the other 4 missing. We got them all the following day. That's online shopping at its best. My Peters of Kensington experience unfortunately was amongst the worst. I hope someone from Peters reads this and makes a change or two. You owe it to your shoppers. You owe it to your brand.

Not impressed
I had purchased once from them & was pretty happy with the the shipping time & how well it was packaged.
2nd purchase...I wasn't too impressed. Took them 5 days to process the order whilst the funds were deducted. The item obviously did not ship on the day they said it did because it took another 7 working days to arrive, so overall, I waited nearly 3 weeks for my parcel to arrive. This purchase was only $20 cheaper than David Jones.
Their price is competitive but I am inclined to pay a little more for better service and less BS.
I received a tax invoice the same day and my item was marked as shipped the next. It then took 4 more days to arrive. Overall, less than a week from purchase date to delivery date. Nothing to complain about there.
The items ordered were solid and seem durable, so am currently happy with the purchase.
Price was less important than the combination of cutlery and items in the package.
Happy to buy from PoK again should the need arise. They normally have a good range, if not the best prices
Ordered a Bodum teapot set due to a recommendation from a friend, a few Mugs and a wallet from PoK.
PoK sells a large range of well known and quality brands and products, so expect to pay a slight premium for this.
Shipping was a small charge extra, with a flat rate for all the items. I don't believe pick up in store was an option.
I was happy to see a order confirmation come through on the day of the order.
3 days later, i received and order dispatch email, with a tracking number - however, merely stated a carton was being delivered, with no contents - so if you are making multiple orders, you won't know what is being sent to you. Maybe good if you like a mystery box surprise.
After that, my items arrived 5 days later, so a total of 8 days from purchase to delivery. Not too bad.
Strangely enough, i received a second email of my items being dispatched, the day after i had received my item. i guess they had a large load of orders and had only just started going through them all. Funny.
The tea set was a gift, and the recipient seemed happy. I'll have to follow up on this later. The mugs were sturdy and the wallet seemed fit for purpose.
Overall, id be happy to buy from Peters of Kensington again.

Good experience, hard to locate pick up place
Peter's of Kensington is a department store based in Eastern Suburbs, it sells everything in the store! kitchenware, homeware, toys, tableware, you name it they will probably have it
Pricewise i would say they are better than most major department stores.. Their item arrangement however is a bit messy..so it's a bit hard to locate the stuff you want to find..
knowing this I can't be bothered to find the item i really want in person..
So i decided to try their online shopping, it is pretty straightforward and does not look as messy as their real store..
after I have purchased the gifts on Friday, I can pick it up as early as monday (24 hours after that? as they are closed on Sunday)
The next Saturday, I came to their store and picked it up..
it was a bit hard to find the pick up place, as it was unclear where should i queue and they also have multiple queues.. (gift wrapping, express, complain centre)
But after I have approached one of the staff, they helped me well and in less than 5 mins it was all done!
besides the queue, it was a good experience :) and i would love to purchase gifts from peters of kensington online shop again

Second Purchase
I bought a gift from peter's of kensington few months ago and I'm really happy with the service and price, and then I had to buy another gift for kris kringle.
So without any hesitation, I browsed through peters' website and purchased a pacman mug, for the price it was a really good buy!
The online shopping was pretty straightforward and it only took them 1 business day to ship it!
I purchased a Parker pen and a Parker mechanical pencil during an online sale of Parker products from Peters of Kensington. It was my first purchase from them.
The prices for the pens were fantastic, far cheaper than elsewhere, so not surprisingly, they sold out quickly. I would have purchased more had they still had more stock when I placed my order. The website was easy enough to use and there were clear item descriptions.
The parcel took a little longer to arrive than expected, but I am in WA, so I was prepared for that. It was very well packaged and the pens survived their trip well.
I was happy with this experience and would purchase from this store again.
