I ordered two items from Officeworks online on the 20th December for in-store collection. A refill for my diary, for the year ahead and refills for my liquid paper correction tape dispenser.
I ordered them online as these items can be hit and miss to find in store, both being items that I have bought over the last few years. I thought ordering online would save me the hassle of unnecessary and fruitless trips to a store.
On the 30th I was in my local store picking some other items up and having heard nothing, I asked if my order was available. They looked it up and told me it was ready for collection. Someone went out the back to look for it and after some time it was concluded that the order wasn't actually ready and I would have to wait until I received an e-mail informing me that it was ready.
On the 2nd of January, getting nervous about the availability of the diary refills I dropped into the store again and looked around. Hilariously I was able to find both of the items from my order in stock, on the shelves of the store.
I went through the check out to purchase them and cancel my online order at the same time. Happily that wasn't an issue, however I was very unimpressed that it took almost 2 weeks (granted with the Christmas and New Year period in the middle) and two visits from me in person before I had my items and only then, because I went and got them off the shelves myself.
I'd been wanting a stylus for my mobile phone, so when a pack including stylus and screen protector came up on clearance for $1 I figured it was a good time to stock up and get a couple of spares.
In hindsight, I think I got what I paid for with regard to the stylus, but it does (most of the time) work.
My order confirmation provided a date for collection, but I didn't receive a call telling me it was available for collection until nearly a fortnight after that. If the item I'd ordered had been urgently required, I doubt I'd be shopping via their online ordering system again but I wasn't in any particular hurry for the item in this case, so it was not much of an issue.
There are some great specials advertised on the website, and while my local store doesn't seem to carry some of the items listed , by ordering online I can (usually) have them sent there at no extra charge for collection.
Because I do not live in a capital city, their delivery charges are quite high so I simply don't select delivery, but this is not a problem, as I pass the store to go into town anyway.
While Officeworks advertised policy is to beat other advertised prices by 5 per cent, the one time I attempted to utilise this at my local store they reluctantly matched the price but did not beat it.

Bad, bad form!
