I ended up visiting Bookworld via a Clickfrenzy link as I wanted to pick up a few books for Christmas and they had a great discount advertised. The books were in stock and both titles were estimated to be delivered "Within 7-10 working days". This was fine, not too quick but then I still had enough time. I received one of my books unexpectedly as I did not receive a dispatch e-mail, until 2 days after I had received it. I still had not received an update regarding the second book in the order so I sent off an e-mail to ask what was going on. Apparently I had not received an e-mail they had sent to customers declaring that this book was on order and they did not have an ETA for the book or when I would receive it. Their response to my concerns surrounding the lack of communication and false information supplied on the site? See below:
"all the issue you have raised are an ongoing problem. They will be addressed and resolved next year when you have a major upgrade to our website. I'm sorry for the current inconvenience. You can call us and have a chat if you have any concerns on the number below."
Unless a $40 book is going to cost me $10 and I can afford to wait 4-6 weeks for it, I doubt I will use these guys again.
Ordered a paperback edition of Raimond Gaita's "Romulus, My Father", after signing up for their rewards program (saved me 20% on the book). Order was dispatched the next day, and I received it 2 days later – free shipping is fantastic. Great range, prices and shipping. I think this used to be Borders, before they went bankrupt. I've found sites with cheaper prices, but I couldn't find the book I ordered anywhere else for a cheaper price.
The prices on this site are great! The huge selection of books is phenomenal and the extra 10% discount you get being a 'citizen' (free sign-up) is handy.
I ordered "Cat's Cradle" and it arrived in 5 business days. The book is in perfect condition and I look forward to my read.
This is a great site to buy books from, the site is so easy and convenient tot navigate, I highly recommend!
Bookworld is my go-to website for books. Sign up as a citizen and you get an extra 10% off their already cheap price. I bought four books: The Rosie Project, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking, The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes and the Happiness Trap. The first three were from their Australian distributor and I got them within a week of ordering - PERFECT! The condition of the books were great, not bent like I had once received from an online retailer. The Quiet book however was a bit dirty, but the cover is white so kind of expected but I was still a little disappointed. The book 'The Happiness Trap' was ordered from the UK distribution centre and I am expecting it next week sometime. I like that we can order different (and even cheaper) versions from overseas for no extra cost to shipping. Bookworld are great, and I will continue to shop here!
I ordered a calendar from Bookworld for my husband for christmas. I chose this website as it was displayed as 'in stock' and $2 cheaper than the others. With 7 - 10 days shipping time it would arrive in time for Xmas. Almost a week later they have written to say that it's not in stock and they don't know when it will be. It is still, however, being advertised on their website as 'in stock' and can be delivered in 7 - 10 days. If you need something for a deadline, don't use bookworld. I've actually had a bad experience with them once before (similar to an earlier review) where there was very little correspondence and a long delay with shipping. Luckily there was no urgency that time, but it was still annoying.
I ordered a calendar for a Christmas present on 25 Nov. It said it was in stock and would ship in around a week. Today (17 Dec) I thought I should follow up because I had heard nothing since my order confirmation. Surprise, surprise! They write back saying the calendar 'has gone out of print and we will be unable to supply your order.' They are refunding my payment. Two things: What would have happened if I hadn't followed up with them? Would they have just kept my money? Why wasn't I informed that the order couldn't be filled sometime within the three weeks from when I ordered until when I followed up. Were they just planning on keeping my money and not sending the product. I don't think they can be trusted and I will never use them again.
I'm having the same problem now ordered a book said it was in stock and still does ! My book is on order and estimated deliver is 3 weeks!!
Sorry to hear that Brad. As I said, I won't use them again. They even sent me a voucher (I think it was for $10), but I still refuse to use them. $10 didn't make up for the inconvenience and the additional expense I had to wear to have a calendar delivered from Dymocks by express post to arrive in time for Christmas :-(
