Ordered a hard drive case for storing my portable HDD and chose to pick it up at my local store (free)
i was notified by email 4 days later that my item was available for pick up
a simple and pain-free pickup this time around
dick smith are constantly having online sales and promotions across their range of items (often on their accessories), so if you are not in a rush, it worth keeping an eye out for items of interest
if service was this efficient across all their range of stores, it would be easy to recommend repeat purchases from DSE

Consumer Laws? What are they?
Had a printer which failed badly half way through warranty. It was only printing parts of lines of print. Went through all the maintenance then returned to store with my receipt. They agreed there was a problem and sent it off for up to 25 days to assess it. Now under consumer law a major fault (and let's face it, it was) I should get choice of refund or exchange. Instead of which I get printer taken away and they even took my receipt. Go elsewhere as no customer service. Have reported them to ACCC
I ordered a Kindle Paperwhite from Dick Smith because they were having one of their sales so it was down to $115 instead of ~$160. They were out of stock in the stores near me so I had to pay for shipping as well (as opposed to click and collect which I have used before and really liked).
I will note that the cases for the Kindles seemed to have gone up on the same day that the Kindles themselves were cheaper so I didn't get one (and they have since gone back to normal) but that's something to look out for.
I received a shipping notification with tracking number the next day, and it arrived the morning afterwards nicely packaged and in good condition.

Often quicker to buy in store than Click n Collect and wait and wait...
Ordered a screw driver kit set for pick up at my local store.
i received an email confirming my order, with a statement to call the store if my order was not prepared after 24 hours.
having purchased using click and collect before, i knew that a 24 hour turnaround time was very, very optimistic, so i decided to wait (i was in no rush). 2 weeks later, i received an email stating that my order was ready for pick up.
i went in store a few days later and finally collected my item.
i'm not sure why the orders take so long to be processed, nor where the delays lie - is it payment confirmation, staff being overwhelmed and overworked instore & dealing with online orders at the same time? service also varies greatly between stores.
i had physically visited the store i was expecting my click and collect item from, and saw that they had plenty of stock available (on the counter no less), but saw that they were very busy (overwhelmed) so did not bother them
If you're happy to buy at a good price and even happier to wait (often) extended periods of time for your order, and enjoy hit & miss (more miss than hit) service, then i'm happy to recommend Dick Smith as a place to purchase. Otherwise, i'd avoid them

After paying via Paypal, i received an order confirmation and the same day i was notified that my item was ready for collection.
I collected my item on the weekend without any problems, just showing them my order number.
Overall, happy with my purchase and efficiency, so will be buying from Dick Smith again
