I've ordered DVDs/Blu-rays multiple times and also a Kobo Ereader as presents for friends and for myself and mostly good.
The delivery fee was only $0.99.
One DVD arrived in Melbourne the day after I ordered it. Most of the other items ordered arrived within 1 week, the longest took 1.5 weeks. The 'Click and Collect' function is good too. Many times I've been instore and couldn't find the item I wanted. I've found it's easier to buy online and choose 'Click and Collect' function and just rock up instore with the paperwork to collect the item. The one hiccup was that for some reason the Name on their pick-up slip was the name of a friend who lives interstate and who I ordered some Dvds. I know that I typed my name when giving details etc but somehow their computer system only registered my friend's name. So my pick-up slip had my name on it but the store pick-up slip had my friend's name on it and they took a long time trying to find the item.
Other than this hiccup, I think they have a good system.
I ordered some dvds recently but I can't be certain when the item will arrive because the confirmation email said they will debit the card once the order has been confirmed. Then the fine print says the order will be shipped and packed within 3 days but I have yet to receive the item, or email telling me where I am at in the order process. It is much easier to just buy the items instore.
I had a Samsung Note 3 which had charging issue after two months purchased. I came to JB Hi-fi in Canberra Centre for a warranty repair on 12/12/2013 with the promise of getting the phone back in 10 business working days.
I came back to JB Hi-fi on 10/01/2014 to ask for the phone because it had been a while and no one contact me after the promising time and got the answer that the phone had not come back yet and I had to wait. The guy in mobile phone section told me that It should be 6-8 weeks to get the phone back. I really need the phone as I have to borrow my friend's mobile in the meantime, so I begged him to contact Samsung about repair status and he rejected my request by giving explanation like "He could not do that, and if the phone has not come back, it means I have to wait because the repair is not done yet".
On 19/01/2014, I contacted them via phone and get the same answer that they cannot do any thing, they have too many customers and they cannot check case by case like that. I were really upset with them but I cannot do anything because they already got my money and it seems like THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR POAT SALE SERVICE.
I don't know what should I do so I contact them again on 22/1/2014 because it has been 6 weeks since I gave them my phone and what I get is the same and the most common sentence that I remembered from them is "They cannot do anything and I have to wait".
So upset that I decide to contact Samsung Customer care to ask for the information. I only had my phone serial number but Samsung team were very helpful after I told them about my case with JB Hi-fi and I don't know what to do. Samsung check my phone repair status and they told me that they got my phone on 3/1/2014 (I left the phone on 12/12 and Samsung received it after more than 20 days? - what did JB do with my phone?) and they shipped it back to JB Hi-fi on 7/1/2014, they also provide me the tracking number. What I found is my phone was waiting for collection in the local post office since 8/1/2014 and JB Hi-fi did not pick it up. I just thought if JB had contacted Samsung on my first visit 10/1/2014, I would have my phone.
VERY DISAPPOINTED, I contacted JB again via phone and ask them to investigate my case. You know what, they keep saying that I have to wait so I request to talk with the manager. The manager told me he would check and call me back in 5-10 minutes but he never. What kind of service that Jb offer to customer? The next day, I contacted them again and told them about what I investigated from Samsung, they said I could not get the phone today as the only one guy can pick it up was off, and they said they will contact me tomorrow. SO EVEN THOUGH I FOUND OUT WHERE MY PHONE IS THEY SILL ASK ME TO WAIT FOR THEIR TERRIBLE BUSINESS ETHICS. NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN. THEIR SLOGAN CHEAP MEAN BAD SERVICE!!!
slow delivery and late communication, maybe due to peak season
ordered a gift card as a gift for a friend who purchases from JB frequently
payment was easy and and an electronic copy was sent to their email a few hours later (which can only be used online - for use in store, you need to wait for the physical card to be sent, supposedly within 2-3 business days)
maybe it was because i purchased it during a peak time and they would have been inundated with orders and enquiries, but the physical card did not arrive until 2 weeks after the purchase date. After waiting a week or so, I emailed them asking if it had been sent out yet. I received a reply to my enquiry 10 days later, which by that time, the card had already been delivered, so delivery and response time was quite slow.
luckily, my friend was content to wait and didn't really need to use it (gift cards have a 12 month expiry)
this is the first time I've ordered gift cards online from JB. if this is typical of the speed of gift card delivery, i can't say I'd recommend it if you need to buy/deliver it in a rush, but if you are happy to wait, then there should be no issues
communication wasn't the best either. not sure if it was due to peak season, but still very slow. I'm not sure 10 days is acceptable, regardless if it was peak season or not. would i buy from jb again? if the price is right, I'm sure I will
I ordered a Sony 7000mAh portable charger, they had incorrectly priced it online, it was possibly one third of the retail price yet they still honored the sale. However, there were many orders due to the great pricing and they did not have enough stock. It took two months for the item to arrive at my door but I wasn't fussed as it was a great deal and they had let me know in advanced it will take this long and also gave me the option to cancel the order if I did not want to wait.
Overall, great service and product. Would order again.
i ordered a portable battery pack online back on the 2nd of october, but JB emailed me within 48 hours, stating that they didnt have it in stock, with expected arrival date of stock to be sometime in december
luckily, i wasnt urgently requiring the pack. the best thing about the whole situation was that JB did not charge my credit card until they had the item in stock to ship to me (6 weeks later)
i was kept up to date with emails, stating the expected date of shipment delivery to their warehouse, and then again with my order being shipped. after being shipped, my order arrived within 2 days
so technically i put the order back in early october, but didnt receive the item until late november. if i needed the item straight away, i would be very annoyed, but as i wasnt, nor was my credit card charged until they actually had the item in stock, and it only really took 2 days to arrive once they did have it in stock, im not going to complain
im guessing, if i was to order an item from them again online and they had it in stock, it would arrive within a week, so im happy to give them the benefit of the doubt for now and will most likely buy from them again
I recently purchased The Emporer's New Groove DVD, since it was missing from my collection; it's an older release, and one that is not always easy to track down. JB Hi-Fi had it in stock, and even better, it was part of their Kids DVD sale, so I said 'yes please!'
Everything was easy to navigate and operate on the website, and even the payment was simple to make. I have purchased through JB Hi-Fi before, without any issues, and had always paid with card previously. This time, I thought I would try the 'Pay with PayPal' option. Logging in with Paypal and making the payment was really quick and simple, but the rest was a bit of a nightmare.
The payment remained 'pending' on my Paypal account for 2 days, before finally being processed when the order was prepared and shipped. I think this was because JB Hi-Fi do not charge you until your item is ready, but it wasn't all that clear. I did not receive any immediate communication, so it did leave me wondering, especially when nothing was displaying on my Order History page.
I was supposed to receive an email confirmation but didn't, and nothing was showing up in my Order History. Thankfully, I had printed the Order Receipt when I first made the transaction, because had I not, I would have no access to my order ID number, and no way to check what was going on.
I emailed online orders, and had a response within a few hours to say that the order had been placed, was being dealt with, and that a confirmation email had been sent. I did request another, but they said they were unable to do that because of the way the system was setup, but they could see the order.
I have since come to the conclusion that my email address confused matters - my Paypal and JB Hi-Fi are setup under two different addresses - personal and family. I think my order was associated to my Paypal account, so everything went to my personal email. I think I couldn't track my order through my JB Hi-Fi account, because there was no order associated to that email, although I am speculating; there's no confirmation of that!
I find it strange that their system cannot deal with this. I would've rather received two confirmation emails to both email addresses, rather than been left wondering. I suggest being aware of a potential issue if JB Hi-Fi and Paypal accounts are registered to different emails.
Delivery was a great price - just 99c - which I found really reasonable, and considering that the item arrived in 3 days, it was definitely worth the cost!
I would buy from JB Hi-Fi again, but probably not using Paypal.
