I was desperately trying to find a brand of baby formula made from goat's milk at the time of this order. I literally called 20 supermarkets and chemists with the same answer: no stock, unknown ETA for further stock.
So imagine my delight when I found this exact item on the Woolworths' website! I bought the maximum I could purchase right away, paid via credit card and booked for pick it up the next day.
And then the disappointment.. I received an email advising the item wasn't in stock and my payment would be reversed.
I asked the customer service agent via email if they could kindly tell me which store would have stock. After a few emails to and fro, they mentioned a store near my home. I drove there the next day and, as though the heavens had opened, I found an entire 2 rows of the milk I was looking for. Woolworths had been redeemed by this fabulous staff member who went out of their way to help me.
Since I don't have a car, I have started using Woolworths Online to do the big, bulky and heavy items shopping! Navigation of the site was pretty easy, with the website split up into 'aisles' similar to the actual stores. As far as I'm aware the offers and prices were the same as in store. I certainly didn't notice anything outrageously different in price.
There were a few items that I ordered that were not in stock and I was called a few hours after I placed my order to be told that, and was given the option of having substitutes.
Selecting the delivery time was easy, and again, the communication from the delivery team was excellent. On the day the driver was running early, but unlike other companies, I was given the courtesy of a phone call to check that it would be okay to delivery early. That was really nice, as back in the UK I have had home deliveries that have turned up early, and I've had to tell them to go away and return when they were supposed to as I was on the way out to a meeting.
There were a couple of issues with my picked delivery - I had ordered a 3-pack of baked beans (420g size) and received the smaller sized tin 3-pack, and I ordered one brand of chicken nuggets and got a different one because the boxes were almost identical. One phone call to Woolworths, and they made a note of the errors and arranged for free delivery of the right items the next day.
I found the delivery charge great. The UK has had home delivery for many years, and most stores have a flat rate for delivery. What really used to annoy me was the fact that I still had to pay the delivery charge, even when I had an order of several £100s. So, to find that Woolworths Online reduced their delivery charge the more you purchased was brilliant.
Because I was doing the monthly shop for large, heavy non-perishable items, it was easy for me to get up above the minimum spend to receive free delivery. My 'Earn and Learn' points were also included with the shopping, along with a new card to stick them on, so I didn't lose out by shopping online.
It was a very successful shopping purchase, despite the picking errors, but since the items are picked by people, there is always going to be human error. The best thing was that those errors were corrected efficiently and the right items delivered in a timely manner. First rate service, and will be happy to order again.
Woolworths online is undeniably very convenient. I used to always shop online with them when there was a $5 delivery window option. They increased it with the less you spend attracting a higher delivery charge. That meant that most of my orders would attract the higher charge. I havent used them for months now and havent gone back so before you place an order check out the delivery charge if that add on matters to you. It did to me
I used this service for a second time because of an online-only special for soft drink.
Whereas I had previously ordered via my phone and found it a painfully slow exercise, this time I was able to order via my computer and didn't have the problems with lagging etc that I'd had previously.
While the site could do with a little improvement navigationwise, it was a fairly pain-free experience, and as per previous order, was able to be collected the following day, at a time that suited me.
As an aside, having endured riduculous crowds pre-Easer shopping yesterday (Thursday) it has occurred to me that this service would be a fantastic way to shop at busy times (if you were organised enough to know what you'd be wanting, a day ahead.)
Ordered through Woolworths online program click & collect. Have used in the past a few times but this was the first time for a large order. Order was for $300 of groceries, order was ready on time for collection and all items had been chilled and were fresh. Email notification was sent of any stock substitutions made. Makes grocery shopping so much easier!!
Woolworths occasionally has specials that can be gotten online only. On this occasion it was White Glo toothpaste, normally around $5, but $1.54 if bought online, so less than a third of the price.
I found their mobile website laggy and sluggish, sometimes totally unresponsive, and I'm not totally convinced that the best part of an hour it took to finally place the order was well spent for the amount saved (I bought half a dozen tubes.)
I selected Click and Collect (order and pay online to collect instore) and there was no option to collect that day, even though I was ordering very early in the morning, so needed to collect the following day. When I arrived to collect, my order had been packed, ready to go, so for someone busy who doesn't mind ordering the day before, this could be a real timesaver, as opposed to wandering the aisles.
The only condition to Click and Collect is a minimum spend of $30.
I ordered my christmas groceries online for the first time last month. I used the online ordering system which was very simple, nominating to collect from my local Woolworths. This service wass free and the groceries were ready the next morning.
I arrive at customer service desk, showed my id, then 2 mnutes later I was wheeling my grceries out all packed in bags, and produce terrific. Highly recommend as I now do it every week not just for Christmas.
