Since I don't have a car, I have started using Woolworths Online to do the big, bulky and heavy items shopping! Navigation of the site was pretty easy, with the website split up into 'aisles' similar to the actual stores. As far as I'm aware the offers and prices were the same as in store. I certainly didn't notice anything outrageously different in price.
There were a few items that I ordered that were not in stock and I was called a few hours after I placed my order to be told that, and was given the option of having substitutes.
Selecting the delivery time was easy, and again, the communication from the delivery team was excellent. On the day the driver was running early, but unlike other companies, I was given the courtesy of a phone call to check that it would be okay to delivery early. That was really nice, as back in the UK I have had home deliveries that have turned up early, and I've had to tell them to go away and return when they were supposed to as I was on the way out to a meeting.
There were a couple of issues with my picked delivery - I had ordered a 3-pack of baked beans (420g size) and received the smaller sized tin 3-pack, and I ordered one brand of chicken nuggets and got a different one because the boxes were almost identical. One phone call to Woolworths, and they made a note of the errors and arranged for free delivery of the right items the next day.
I found the delivery charge great. The UK has had home delivery for many years, and most stores have a flat rate for delivery. What really used to annoy me was the fact that I still had to pay the delivery charge, even when I had an order of several £100s. So, to find that Woolworths Online reduced their delivery charge the more you purchased was brilliant.
Because I was doing the monthly shop for large, heavy non-perishable items, it was easy for me to get up above the minimum spend to receive free delivery. My 'Earn and Learn' points were also included with the shopping, along with a new card to stick them on, so I didn't lose out by shopping online.
It was a very successful shopping purchase, despite the picking errors, but since the items are picked by people, there is always going to be human error. The best thing was that those errors were corrected efficiently and the right items delivered in a timely manner. First rate service, and will be happy to order again.
I was desperately trying to find a brand of baby formula made from goat's milk at the time of this order. I literally called 20 supermarkets and chemists with the same answer: no stock, unknown ETA for further stock.
So imagine my delight when I found this exact item on the Woolworths' website! I bought the maximum I could purchase right away, paid via credit card and booked for pick it up the next day.
And then the disappointment.. I received an email advising the item wasn't in stock and my payment would be reversed.
I asked the customer service agent via email if they could kindly tell me which store would have stock. After a few emails to and fro, they mentioned a store near my home. I drove there the next day and, as though the heavens had opened, I found an entire 2 rows of the milk I was looking for. Woolworths had been redeemed by this fabulous staff member who went out of their way to help me.
I did another shop at Woolworths online for my large heavy and bulky items, which went without a hitch, once again.
I like the 'favourites' feature on the online shopping, which seems to be made up of a combination of my previously ordered items, plus anything I've brought in store and swiped my Rewards Card for. While I like the idea of 'previously ordered items' showing up, the fact that almost everything I've ever brought showing up meant there was a long list of items to trawl through.
However, this feature did make my online shopping easier. By remaining on the favourites pages, I was able to add any and all items on that list directly into my shopping cart. I was also able to select the quantity before hitting the add button, so didn't have to move off the page; that was brilliant. Once I had combed through the favourites, there were just a few additional items that I needed to add to my cart, and then I was done.
Payment was simple and quick. My order was placed late in the evening, but there were still slots available the following afternoon and evening. I opted for the latest delivery time, and my items arrived on time.
I had a really nice delivery guy; he even apologised for being late, saying he had been run off his feet all evening, when actually he was still within 15mins of the cut-off time, so he was never 'late' in the first place! All the bags were brought in quickly and stacked neatly just inside the kitchen ready for unloading.
It had started raining as the guy was bringing everything in, so as soon as he realised he was going to put dirty footprints on the floor, he offered to take his shoes off. Of course I told him not to worry (was about the hoover/wash the floor anyway), so he kept his shoes on, but kept apologising for making a mess.
A caring, compassionate and friendly delivery driver, he did his job, and in my opinion, went the extra mile. He is an asset to Woolworths. I was just about to start checking everything when there was a knock at the door - he had realised that he'd missed a bag and came running back with it, and more apologies!
This time, there were just a few items that were out of stock, but there was a note on the delivery slip, and an appropriate refund. Nothing was missing or wrongly picked, or damaged, so once again, another successful shop.
I cannot wait to do my next online shop with Woolworths!
I had a lot of trouble getting to the end steps (submit order) on the site but after changing browser, it was ok.
I ordered with free delivery (first 3 deliveries are free!) it would normally would set you back $13 and that's very pricey but I guess you pay for convenience.
I also had a $10 off $50 order code and used that, bringing my order to a good price.
The order arrived within the time I chose (6-9) at around 8:30pm tonight. Delivery man was very nice, good service.
I placed my first order online and was surprised at how easy and convenient it was. The only thing was, it didn't have a particular product which some of its stores stock. Otherwise, for the time it saves me, it is definitely worth doing, it is a stress free way of doing groceries. The order arrived at my door within the timeframe I picked. Very happy..
I ordered on a Sunday night but couldn't pick delivery for a Monday which was a little annoying but no big deal for me, so I chose a suitable timeframe for Tuesday.
The delivery always arrives within the last 1/2 hour for me, but that's ok. Arrived at 5:50pm, just 10 minutes in the specified timeframe. Very speedy, I opened the door and the goods were at my doorstep so that was really convenient.
Prices online are the same as catalogued prices (in-store) except some products are a few cents more expensive. The chips and a pack of Solo drink cans were sold out so it said on the invoice that I'd get a refund as I did not allow the products to be substituted in case of stock shortage. The bar of chocolate I ordered arrived cool as it was refrigerated, you don't get that in-store!
I love Woolworths online shopping because the process is just all too easy, I will definitely continue utilising this in the future!
gift ordering is hard (impossible?) to track, but i did get my item after some delays
ordered a giftpack to be delivered to a relative
shipping was only $3, so good value.
received an order confirmation stating that delivery was expected on the 9th Jan (after purchasing on the 3rd). Sadly, it didn't get delivered till the 15th. At least the item only took 1 day to arrive after it was dispatched
As there was quite a delay and no updates on order status, i contacted Woolworths both via email and phone (using the contact details they provided). A little bit of a hassle as it seems that their phone support can only see your order (my account didn't even show it), but cannot track or tell you of your orders status etc. They have to send off an email to the relevant gift department. Email replies also took several days for a response (if at all). Seems their system for the gift department section needs alot of fine tuning
Please note, i ordered from their "Gifts" section, which seems to be handled by a different area from their regular online orders
So after about 3 calls (which were forwarded via email) and 2 direct emails (with one response), my order was marked as dispatched and arrived just under 2 weeks after date of purchase. Cant say the communication was the best. It felt more an "order and hope for the best" experience.
I guess I'd consider buying from their gift section again, as i did receive my items in the end, despite the delays and having a great deal of difficulty in finding someone who could help. The customer service reps (over the phone) are helpful, but also have their hands tied as they cant do much except to forward on your enquiry, (hopefully) to be replied.
